The Brief
Wiradjuri Demolitions Civil needed an ISO 45001 WHS management system that did two things at once. It had to satisfy the expectations of government departments and Tier 1 head contractors running high-spec demolition and asbestos jobs on schools, community facilities and other public buildings — but it also had to be small enough that a tightly-run family business could actually live with it on the tools.
Class A friable asbestos removal is one of the most heavily regulated activities in Australian construction. The system had to cover sealed enclosures, HEPA-filtered negative-pressure air management, HEPA vacuums, wetting-down, disposable PPE, personnel decontamination, air monitoring, clearance certification and licensed waste disposal — and tie all of that back to a documented Asbestos Removal Control Plan for every job, on top of the demolition side of the business.
