The Story
R&G had built their name doing premium extensions and renovations in occupied North Shore homes — work where the finish has to be exact, the client is often living upstairs while you're rebuilding downstairs, and a missed waterproofing detail can cost more than the certification itself. They were ready to step up: into larger developments, longer programmes, and the kind of jobs where the head contractor or developer wants to see a real management system before they hand over a contract.
The challenge was the one most quality residential builders face. Small, tight-knit team. A heavy reliance on subcontractors — different trades on site every week, every one of them carrying their own safety culture in with them. And the regulatory weight of NSW construction sitting over the top: WHS Act, SafeWork inspectors, council certifiers, principal contractor duties. Triple ISO had to do real work for them on site, not just sit in a folder.
We built the IMS around how Sam and the team actually run a job — owner on site, subbies engaged directly, clients often in the next room. The subcontractor management procedures and SWMS library became the spine of it, because that's where the risk lives for a builder of this shape.

Inspection and Test Plans
Structured I&T plans coordinating hold and witness points across structural, waterproofing, plumbing, electrical and certifier inspections through every stage of a renovation.
Quality Checklists
Stage-by-stage checklists from set-out through to handover — built to the finish standard high-end residential clients expect, with defect tracking baked in.
Permit to Work Systems
Documented permit to work systems covering heights >2m, structural demolition, work near energised services and other Schedule 3 activities — ready to issue per project.
Emergency Response Plans
Site-specific ERPs covering medical, fire, structural collapse and severe weather — with clear roles and first-response steps tailored to residential sites in occupied neighbourhoods.
The Outcome
R&G passed their initial certification audit first go, with minimal corrective actions — the mark of an IMS that matches how the business actually runs, not a paper system dropped over the top. They now hold third-party certification to ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 through a JAS-ANZ accredited certification body, delivered over an ~8-week implementation window.
With certification in hand, R&G have the credentials to tender for larger developments and pre-qualify with head contractors and developers who require a certified IMS — while keeping the boutique, owner-led standard of finish their North Shore clients come to them for.
